New User's Guide

1. Choose a Class

Browse the Searchable Schedule or our Online Course Listings. Take note of the CRN of the course you want to take.

2. Apply if Necessary

If you haven't taken classes at GWC in the past two semesters, apply online.

3. Get Official

Register and pay for your classes through MyGWC.

4. Buy Your Books

Keeping your course's CRN handy for reference, buy the appropriate textbooks either on-campus or through the Online Bookstore.

5. Get to Know Blackboard

Watch our Video Tutorials.

6. Log in

On the OnlineGWC website, click either the "Log in to Your Online Classes" graphic, or the "Log In" link in the upper right.

7. Enter the Classroom

Click a course title link from the "Course List" to enter the Blackboard classroom for that course. If you see a license agreement at this point, you will need to enter an Access Code.

Important Note: At any point while inside your class, you may click the “My Blackboard” link on the top right-hand corner of the page to return to your class list.

8. Read the Syllabus & Get Started

Most courses provide a syllabus on the left menu or the "Course Content" home page. The syllabus is your contract with the instructor and your map to the class; please read it carefully.

Begin navigating the site immediately to familiarize yourself with Blackboard. If you have any questions about the your course content or schedule, please contact your instructor via the method provided in the syllabus.

9. Technical Trouble?

Don't worry; it happens to the best of us! We're here to help you with any Blackboard related inquiries.

Contact the OnlineGWC Helpdesk at (714) 895-8389 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. You may also submit a request at the Online Helpdesk 24 hours a day, and we will reply promptly during the business hours above.

10. Completion

Final grades will be available shortly after the course ends, through MyGWC.
