The links on the course menu at left will take you to various sections of your course.  You can use these links to move around from any page inside your course materials.

Sometimes, the menu will automatically resize itself to conserve real estate on your screen. You may still use the icons as links or (if you wish to see the text as well) click the button to the right of the icons to expand the menu.

The course menu is broken up into two sections: Course Tools and My Tools.
