Posting to the Discussion Board

Video Transcript

To post a message in a Discussion topic, click the "Create Message" button, and wait for the popup window to load. Click within the "Subject" field and type a few words that briefly sum up the main point of your message. Then, click within the larger "Message" field, and type the main content of your post.

If you are going to be making a very long post to the Discussion board, and writing a lot, it is wise to type your text first (without any text formatting, such as underlining or italics), in a word processing program on your computer, saving the file as you work. You may simply copy and paste the text from the word processing program into the Discussion board's "Message" field. This way, if you experience any problems with your internet connection, or your browser closes unexpectedly, your work will be preserved on your computer, in that word processing file.

Once you have copied and pasted your text here, if you wish to add colors and text formatting (such as bold lettering, underlining, font sizing, etc), you may click the "Enable HTML Creator" button to do so. You may also attach documents or images using the "Add attachments" button.

Once you are satisfied with your message, you may click "Post" to print it to the Discussion board.

Please keep in mind that anything you post to the Discussion board can be seen by the entire class, and you will not be able to delete any previous postings.
